Understanding Vet Bed Grade

Grade comes down to two things: pile height and knit density.

The term "vet bed" gets used loosely. A grade is taller and denser. B grade is shorter and lighter. For Vetfleece, the answer is straightforward — A grade. That's not a marketing claim. We're just not interested in low quality.

A grade: longer fibre, denser knit

A grade vet bedding uses a longer polyester fibre and has a denser knit than B grade alternatives — producing a loftier, softer fleece that bounces back to shape, holds its purpose wash after wash, and stands up to the demands of professional use.

  • Taller pile — 25–28mm standard, 28–32mm heavy duty
  • Denser knit — fuller, more durable structure
  • Holds its shape and warmth through repeated washing
  • Liquid drains through — surface stays drier
  • Non-allergenic · non-toxic · non-irritant

B grade: shorter pile, lighter weight

B grade vet bed uses a shorter fibre with a less dense knit — the pile flattens faster, washes down more quickly, and feels noticeably thinner. It's often sold without specification for exactly this reason.

For trade buyers, being able to confirm grade by specification — not just by a label — is what separates a credible product from a generic one. Your customers can verify it, not just take your word for it.

  • Typical pile: 19–21mm
  • Typical weight: 900–1000gsm
  • Less densely knitted — flatter feel
  • Heavy Duty specification not available in B grade

Why Grade Matters for Trade Buyers

The grade question comes up consistently in the trade market.

For distributors, retailers and franchisees, being able to confirm — by specification — that you're supplying genuine A grade vet fleece is a clear selling point. Your customers can verify it.

For your customers

Professional kennels, vets and breeders buying in volume want to know they're getting A grade. They've often been sold B grade as A grade before. Vetfleece lets them verify the grade themselves — by feel, by specification, and by comparing directly against anything else in the market.

For your business

A grade commands a higher resale price and holds repeat customers. When you're running trade accounts across a market, your customers place repeat orders based on what they received the first time. Manufacturing control means the product they ordered last year and the product they receive next month is the same — same pile, same weight, same performance.
